A short guide to tipping your boat crew

November 16, 2016

Experienced and knowledgeable boat crews are a critical part of any successful charter fishing vessel.  From preparing the boat, rigging lines, changing bait, pulling that monster bill into the rail, and cleaning your catch their job is relentless and doesn’t end when you return to the dock.  Boat mates are up before sunrise, typically arrive before the […]

What Others are Saying about Cabo San Lucas fishing with Juan Carlos

Best day ever !

by Karen G June 23, 2018

The crew was great, boat was clean. Best part the captain and Crew made sure we found the (Marlin) and made sure we got (two) in the boat. I travel often and this was a very economical way to do a charter. Highly recommend

AWESOME trip!!!

by Michael M February 17, 2018

Had a great trip! Booked the two of us, and the other couple did not show, so we had the entire boat to ourselves, with our crew. Caught some nice dorado. Can't wait to do this again!!!

Boat was fine, Captain and mage were not friendly!

by Karyn M January 16, 2018

We were concerned that the boat would be small, but it was actually a good size and quite comfortable. Unfortunately the Captain and mate who staffed the boat must have been having a bad day. They never introduced themselves and they appeared to speak no English at all. Didn't really seem to care if people had a good time or it anything was caught. Trip was supposed to go until noon but right after landing the first and only fish of the trip (around 11am) they immediately headed back to the Marina. Fish cleaning was strangely done in the parking lot? The whole experience seemed "off" with an unhappy crew who wanted the whole thing to be over with as soon as possible.

Great Trip

by Arthur J September 13, 2017

I call a few of the boats in Cabo looking for information on sharing a boat with no luck. After a quick google search I found ShareafishingCharter.com, and decided to give it a try. I normally fish Super Pangas but wanted to try my luck offshore, I found a great share with three other anglers on a 28-ft. cruiser. After checking in and talking with my fellow anglers we asked the Captain to target Tuna and Dorado. Due to the recent storm, we headed out with no ice and frozen ballyhoo. The Crew worked hard to find fish as we trolled small lures, cedar plugs and ballyhoo offshore. After a few hours with no bites and a few radio calls we headed inshore where the dorado were biting. Trolling along a weed and debris line we hooked and boated 10 Dorado before deciding to head for port. While trolling back the outrigger was hit, fish on! The mate tossed in a ballyhoo, the captain gunned the engine and we were on with two sailfish. For the next 20 minutes, we fought, landed and released one sailfish and boated and kept the second fish. The Crew worked hard, gave great service, and put us on some great fish. I am very happy with the site; creating an account and booking a trip is a breeze, questions answered quickly and the value is excellent. I look forward to booking trips in new location.

Great Day

by Daniel D September 10, 2017

Had a great day fishing, despite the junk in the water from the storm. Captain put us on the Dorado quick. Had two triple hookups and a double on a couple of nice sailfish. Gents I fished with were great. Mate was very busy and helpful. Mucho Bueno.

As expected

by Robert O August 28, 2017

We did catch fish, 2 very small Yellowfin Tuna, each one was perfect for 2-3 people for dinner. We caught them in the fist 30 minutes. 2 Bonita the rest of the day. Capt. JC & Tony fished hard changing baits and teasers regularly. The reason I didn't rate them 4 stars is they cut the trip an hour short since the fishing was slow. In addition you need to bring your own water, they didn't provide water as advertised. We also had an issue with the live bait. My fishing partners and I paid the girl on the dock for bait, lunch & license. When we picked up the bait the bait boys wanted $10 more dollars. Which to get on with fishing and avoid more delay we paid.

Decent Value

by Christine K July 3, 2017

Caught several Bonita. Boat was much more basic than appeared in picture. Crew was nice. Only provided bait, so if you want anything to eat/drink, bring it. Was a very basic trip, so not a bad value, but would have liked something nicer next time. "Custom" is a stretch.

a fun day

by Johannes S January 18, 2017

The crew was professional and friendly. Fishing was slow but I managed to land a nice jackfish Caravelle! We also some whales, so a two in one trip!

Thanksgiving week in cabo

by David G November 24, 2016

Great day fishing. Beautiful weather. Caught fish. Two Dorado (mahi mahi). 30 lbs each. 15 minutes of constant action. Lots of fun .Everyone caught fish. Captain Juan Carlos knew the area and how to handle boat and made you feel safe. The first mate worked the entire time. Juan speaks English enough. First mate didn't, but not much to say, its fishing not brain surgery. Captain JC also understood how to make trip fun for tourists. He paused at arch for picture opportunity. We saw whales breach and brought boat close for better view. On way back to dock, excess chum fed to birds flying overhead, who snatch fish out of air, and seal that popped his head onto the back of the boat. As for this site, excellent customer service from Matt. Delivered as promised. Fished 7 hours for a little over $100 on 26 foot boat with 3 other people. Excellent value. Negatives: my back is sore from fighting with fish. Mexico's economy is depressed, so everyone had their hand out for a tip. Examples: boat wasnt the one promised and was parked in different location. A guy walk me to boat and asked tip. When we got off boat the guy who took fish to location to clean, another tip. Cleaning people $5 per fish. Water taxi $10 to other side of dock, etc. Bottomline: I'm American and I'm blessed. I have a roof over my head, a good job,and the opportunity to have leisure time and fish in Cabo. I dont think life is as good for these people. This is my opportunity to help them a little. Still had fun. $150 for day of fishing, still good value. Next time i probably won't keep the fish and give them to crew in lieu of tip. The fun for me was the fight. Besides everyone needs a meal. :)

Good value

by Patrick F November 23, 2016

All in all a good experience. Caught 5 fish. Captain and mate very knowledgeable. Only complaint is not knowing what to bring etc. basically bring all food drinks and buy fishing license beforehand. You also will have a charge for bait , gate fees and to clean any fish you catch and keep. So understand that the price you pay here is basically just to book boat. Everything else is separate. No big deal to me but if you're new at this like I was first time it can be a little confusing.

Great Trip

by DOUGLAS W September 21, 2016

We got upgraded to the Cisco do to a cancellation at the last min, Great crew we hooked a big Blue Marlin but it spit the hook, also caught a Dorado..

Great Trip

by Thao L August 15, 2016

Sunday we were on the Angelina, not as nice as the Phantom III, but we caught the 180lb Striped Marlin We were STOKED.. We also did reel in a 300lb Blue Marlin but had to release. Wished we reel in the Blue Marlin first.. Anyways, both crews on the boats were great!!! The mate on the Angelina worked his tail off to get us the fish.. We didn't get the rooster we wanted, found out it was a little slow in season, but catching a 180 lb Marlin and reeled in the 300 lb Marlin made the trip worthwhile..

Caught my first Dorado!

July 3, 2016

Trip was great! Captain got us out to the zone and we had a quick double of yellowfin. Was quiet for next hour and then I hooked a beautiful dorado! My first dorado ever and it was what I wanted to catch on this trip! The day ended at Last Chatita where they prepared the fish 5 different ways! Some of best fish I have ever eaten. First time using share a charter and definitely will be using it again!

Great trip

by DOUGLAS W June 5, 2016

BIGGEST SAILFISH EVER

October 7, 2015

After a slow start, we landed the largest sailfish I have ever caught! - Bill

Best so far in Cabo.

June 13, 2015

Best local fishing experience so far. There were 3 in our party and we caught 10 fish....dorado and rooster fish in a 5 hour period. Ronnie, our guide was very knowledgable, knew where the fish were biting and baited accordingly. He recommended a restaurant who cooked half of the catch 3 ways for a terrific lunch. We took the other half back to our resort, and they cooked a great family meal for us. Will definitely go with them again and request Ronnie as our captain and guide!
